MoASBO Announced Incoming Board President
On July 1, 2024, Dr. Steve Shelton, SFO, associate superintendent of operations for Lee's Summit R-7 School District, was announced as the Missouri Association of School Business Officials (MoASBO) board president for the 2024-2025 school year.
Dr. Shelton has been an active member of MoASBO for over 15 years and achieved his Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations through the Association of School Business Officials International. He has served on the Professional Development Committee, SFO Certification Committee, Recognition Committee, Membership Committee, and the MoASBO Board of Directors.
With over 35 years of education experience, Dr. Shelton has filled various roles, including football coach for Fort Scott Community College, seventh-grade teacher in the Atchison Public School District, biology teacher, athletic director, head football coach, and associate principal in the Shawnee Mission School District, principal in Gardner Edgerton School District 231, and principal, assistant superintendent of Secondary Education, assistant superintendent of Human Resources, and associate superintendent of operations for the Raytown C-2 School District.
Whether ensuring fiscal integrity within the school district, making leadership contributions, or assisting his community, Dr. Shelton is committed to serving others.
He has received the Kansas City Chiefs High School Coach of the Week award, the Raytown PTA Distinguished Service Award, and the Shawnee Mission North PTA Distinguished Service Award. Under his leadership, his school districts have received the Meritorious Budget Award and the Healthiest Employer in Kansas City.
"I am humbled to be a part of such an extraordinary group of school business leaders," Dr. Shelton said. "As MoASBO president, I am dedicated to promoting member engagement and involvement; in fact, our association is built on sharing our vast experiences and knowledge through serving on committees, attending regional meetings, participating in workshops or webinars, presenting at conferences, and actively participating in the many learning opportunities. I will continue to give back to the association that has provided me so much."
