Member Spotlight: Meet Dr. Jordan Dickey

Meet Dr. Jordan Dickey, the Executive Director of Student Services for the Joplin School District.

"I have been an active member of MoASBO for the past six years, and I am excited to start serving in a leadership role as a MoASBO board member in the 2025-26 school year," Jordan shares.

Let's take a deeper look at Jordan's passion for education:

Question 1: What do you love about your job?
Response: My job brings me so much joy! I love immersing myself in budgets, spreadsheets, and formulas. I feel invigorated by the direct impacts I have on the community. I am passionately committed to ensuring quality education for all learners, and my role in the finance office gives me a unique opportunity to directly influence equitable access to financial resources across our school district.

Question 2: Can you share an achievement that makes you proud?
Response: When I reflect on my career, I am incredibly humbled by the opportunities I have been given. While I don’t have a specific achievement to highlight, I take great pride in the work I have done in the name of education.

Question 3: In your spare time, what activities do you enjoy?
Response: I love to read, take naps, and spend quality time with my two sons and family.

Question 4: What is the most challenging aspect of your job?
Response: I wish people understood how much thought and effort goes into making financial decisions for the school district. The financial office keeps everything running smoothly by ensuring payroll is completed, bills are paid, and our investments are managed wisely. We must balance the best interests of the district as a whole while keeping kids first and meeting the needs of our employees. The budget is limited, and we take great care in how we allocate resources!

Question 5: Do you have any advice to share?
Response: Ask all the questions, read the finance manual, and dive into the details! Surround yourself with people who are more experienced than you, and take the time to ask detailed questions so you can understand how things work. Get involved with your local MoASBO regional group and the state organization!
