Member Spotlight : Brittany Brinkman

This month, we are excited to spotlight one of our outstanding members, Brittany Brinkman, who serves as a bookkeeper, as well as an HR and payroll specialist for the Shelby County R-IV School District.

Brittany has been a MoASBO member for two years and has been nominated for the Emerging Leader Award for 2024. Additionally, she has just completed her first year in the School Business Specialist program.

Brittany's enthusiasm for MoASBO is clear. She encourages others by saying, "Don't be afraid to ask questions! We have all been new and have leaned on fellow bookkeepers and school finance operation professionals for support!"

**Favorite Part of the Your Job:

Brittany's favorite aspect of her role is payroll. She joyfully shares, "You are everyone's favorite person on payday!" It’s clear that she takes pride in providing this vital service to her district.


**Challenges You Face in Your Role:

Every day brings new challenges in Brittany's job. She notes the ever-changing landscape of state laws and DESE updates as a significant difficulty. As someone working in a small district, she often finds herself wearing many hats, saying, "I'm a one woman stop shop, jack of all trades," and acknowledges the unpredictability of her daily tasks.


**Proud Achievements:

One of Brittany's key accomplishments is completing her first year in the SBS program. She is also honored to have been nominated as an Emerging Leader at the 2025 MoASBO Spring Conference.


**Personal Interests:

In her free time, Brittany enjoys spending time with family, fishing, and visiting the dirt track.


**Impact of MoASBO:

Brittany appreciates MoASBO for the resources it offers and the friendships she's cultivated through her membership. She particularly looks forward to the Fall MoASBO Conference, enjoying "lots of laughter, great training, good food, and amazing company."
