Meet Stephanie Terry

Meet Stephanie Terry, the dedicated director of purchasing at Saint Louis Public Schools. With a MoASBO membership spanning eight years, Stephanie's passion for supporting education is palpable: "The most rewarding aspect of my role is the ability to make a tangible, positive impact on education. By effectively managing procurement processes, I am able to wholeheartedly support the educational mission and vision of our schools."

TerryStephanie stays active in MoASBO by attending conferences and collaborating with other MoASBO leaders. Let's get to know her a bit better:

Question 1: What advice would you give to someone starting out professionally? 

Response: 

  • Learn your craft – There is a lot of information to learn. School finance is different!
  • Build Relationships/Mentorships – You will need help at some point, and networking is necessary.
  • Embrace Continuous learning – Become a lifelong learner and stay informed of industry trends and best practices.
  • Be Proactive – Anticipate potential challenges to drive positive change.

Question 2: What is the most challenging thing about your job?

Response: The most challenging aspect of the job is ensuring compliance. Understanding the various compliance requirements is crucial, but many people prioritize the outcome over the necessary preliminaries. 

Question 3: In your spare time, what activities do you enjoy?

Response: I enjoy spending quality time with family, diving into a good book, and searching for unique treasures at local thrift stores! 

Question 4: How has MoASBO helped you?

Response: MoASBO has helped me develop leadership skills and provided valuable support, educational resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities. I always eagerly anticipate attending a MoASBO event!
