Video Summary:
In this video, we review primary funds and resulting levies. For school districts, two levies may be calculated and set: an operating levy and a debt service levy. The operating levy provides local funds for the daily operation of the district, like salary and benefits for staff, services, and supplies. The debt service levy is established when voters have separately approved a general obligation bond for reasons such as renovating schools or building a new school building and is strictly used for repayment of the principal, interest, and fees of that debt. Levies must be set to four decimal places.MoASBO Setting the Tax Levy Part 3
