The School District of Clayton has earned the Association of School Business Officials International’s (ASBO) Pathway to the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation during the 2016-2017 school year. The Pathway to the MBA promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials’ skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget.
“This award reflects the District’s commitment to sound fiscal management practices and represents a significant achievement in financial reporting for the District,” said Chief Financial Officer Mary Jo Gruber.
To earn the Pathway to the MBA, the District’s budget underwent a rigorous review by professional auditors to determine whether or not it met or exceeded the program’s stringent criteria. During the 2015-2016 budget year, only five school districts in Missouri earned the Pathway to MBA designation.
Earning the Pathway to the MBA and the more rigorous Meritorious Budget Award are both included in the District’s strategic plan Resource Management objective of ensuring effective financial performance, leadership and management of resources. The Pathway to the MBA is the first step in the process of preparing for the full Meritorious Budget Award. As a recipient of the Pathway to the MBA, the District is eligible to apply for the ASBO’s Meritorious Budget Award for its 2017-2018 budget.
